I provide services tailored to each client’s needs whether you come for a single session or a series of treatments. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and can support you whether you have specific aches, pains or medical problems or whether you simply want to relax and de-stress.
I am a registered member of the Scottish Massage Therapists Organisation (SMTO) and fully insured with Balens Insurance.
"I instantly felt comfortable with André. His interest and friendliness was greatly appreciated, as was his sensitivity to my body issues. The atmosphere was relaxing, warm, calming and exactly what you’d hope for when going for a massage. I just wish it lasted longer!"

Are you always ‘switched-on’, have difficulty letting go and are constantly on high alert? This massage is designed to help you get to a calmer and more peaceful state of being. Using techniques drawn from Swedish physical therapist Henrik Ling, this massage will switch off your sympathetic nervous system and switch on your parasympathetic nervous system; in other words, it will have a sedative effect. The calm, slow and gliding massage strokes will aid the delivery of essential nutrients around your body. Serotonin and endorphins (which are feel good, anti-stress hormones) are released for optimum mental functioning and for decreasing anxiety and depression. This massage will also help relieve your muscles of fatigue, soreness and stiffness and improve your flexibility. Relax+ Aromatherapy massage
When choosing this treatment, I will mix essential oils with a carrier oil (such as apricot, avocado, almond, etc) with the purpose of unifying physiological, psychological and spiritual processes to enhance your natural healing process. This is a deeply relaxing type of massage that will stimulate your sense of smell and - most likely - your memories! The strokes are adapted from traditional Swedish massage to promote and facilitate the absorption of the essential oils into the skin. I will formulate a massage blend just for you and select essential oils with sedative properties that facilitate and encourage relaxation. Deep tissue muscle release massage
Deep tissue massage is a technique that concentrates on the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, often used to treat musculoskeletal issues such as strains. The purpose of this technique is to lengthen, relax and release strain patterns within the muscles; it may also promote faster healing of muscles by increasing blood flow and reducing inflammation. I will use a combination of slow strokes and deep pressure by using my fingers, knuckles, hands and forearms on tight places either following or going across the fibres of the muscles. Trigger points are also often used. As opposed to other massage techniques, deep tissue massage concentrates on the parts of the body that are strained; therefore, it is not unusual to have a session that concentrates fully on the lower back, upper back or legs. This type of massage uses a combination of techniques (including stretches) and it is often used to prevent injury, help in the rehabilitation process following an injury and as a warm up/cool down for a sports event. A sports event could be anything however! Whether you're running a marathon, jogging, doing pilates or 'just' going for a long walk, a sports massage could make a world of difference to your fitness capabilities, performance potential and flexibility of joints and muscles. It also helps speed up the recovery and healing time for injured tissues. Sports massages are often done pre-event, post-event and as maintenance. Please note massage should be avoided in sites of injury for at least 48 hours from when the injury happened. Heal+ lymphatic drainage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a noninvasive and very gentle type of massage treatment which can reduce chronic or acute swelling (edema) after surgery (e.g. cosmetic surgery such as liposuction or cancer surgery). If you’re suffering with edema regardless of having had surgery then you will also enjoy this treatment. In the case of surgery, it gives your body the crucial support it needs for a full recovery. Research shows that MLD accelerates your healing process, decreases recovery time and combats infection by improving your circulation, increasing your metabolic rate and improving immunity. After surgery the body’s lymphatic system is temporarily overloaded by the cascade of events and brings on the body’s inflammatory response to trauma. MLD treatment is designed to optimise the lymphatic system by clearing lymphatic pathways and collection ducts, which is critical to allow transportation of fluid. It would also be worth considering MLD treatment pre-operation as it will boost your lymphatic system and positively influence healing, which can reduce the amount of post-surgical treatments required. Energy boost massage
This massage is designed to give you an energy boost and leave you feeling ready to face your day - or night! It adapts the massage strokes from classic Swedish massage and harnesses the properties of essential oils to leave you feel uplifted. Its pace is faster than in a relaxing massage and it’s also more vigorous helping you to feel awake and ready to go. Essential oils add-on: + £3
Essential oils harness a plant’s therapeutic properties which can be used to improve health and prevent disease. I will create an essential oil blend to be diluted with your massage oil with the view to help improve physical or psychological aspects of your health. For example, if you are having a deep tissue massage treatment for muscle pain, I can create a blend with sedative and muscle relaxing properties. Essential oils may help with several conditions such as anxiety and stress, insomnia, inflammation, digestive issues, hypertension, hypotension, arthritis, rheumatism and others. They can also be used to invigorate you, for example, by using energising oils such as lemon, grapefruit or sweet orange!
*This ‘add on’ does not apply to the Relax+ Aromatherapy massage or the Energy Boost massage as those treatments already include the use of essential oils. **Essential oils cannot be added to the Heal+ manual lymphatic drainage treatment.
Aromatherapy compress add-on: + £5
An aromatherapy compress is an effective way to treat muscular aches and pains, sprains and strains, headaches, bruises and reduce inflammation, especially when done simultaneously with a massage treatment. I will add a few drops of essential oils to a bowl of water and soak a cloth cloth in the solution. Depending on your symptoms, the compress may be hot or cold, or or I might alternate between the two. A hot compress can treat chronic pain such as backache, and a cold compress can help relieve acute injuries such as sprains. Because of the attention compresses require, I recommend that you add them to treatments lasting 60 minutes or more.
