Service Description

Reiki Reiki is a non-invasive therapy which can be performed with hands on your skin or hands-off for those who prefer to not have physical contact with the therapist. Reiki therapy utilises Reiki energy which translates crudely from the Japanese as 'vital and universal energy'. Its purpose is to treat, balance and restore the harmony of all aspects of the individual - body, mind and spirit. As such, it is not a cure in the Western understanding of the word. The Reiki therapist works as a channel of this energy and transmits it to another person, animal or plant via their hands, which may feel warm to the person receiving Reiki. When performed on another person this is usually done by placing hands on several points in the person's body. The therapy is performed with the client fully clothed and the fact that it doesn't require a hands on approach makes it a great form of touch therapy for those who prefer to receive touch fully clothed or those with PTSD who prefer not to be touched. Ki energy is comparable to Chi energy or Prana although it is not the same as they all originate from different places. Reiki therapy, as we understand it today, relates to the system of healing developed by Mikao Usui in the 1920s in Japan. Even though Western trainings of Reiki vary considerably from the training one would receive in Japan, it is generally accepted that one style of training isn't necessarily superior to any other and that the quality of energy received isn't superior either, despite the different techniques being employed. Reiki treatments may last anywhere from 40-70 minutes as it is generally accepted that intuition on the day should be what dictates when the treatment ends.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice and 'no shows' will be charged at 100% of the treatment cost. This is because I may not be able to fill your appointment slot and still need to cover my costs. Please cancel as soon as possible if a foreseeable event is likely to prevent you from attending, for example, illness or adverse weather conditions. If you need to cancel your appointment at short notice, because of a long-term medical condition which varies from day to day, then we shall discuss the cost implications on a case by case basis. An invoice for any cancellation / ‘no show’ charges will be sent to you by email for payment by bank transfer within 7 days. Following a cancellation, payment must be received before any further massage bookings can be taken. It is important that our agreed appointment time and duration is adhered to. I appreciate that sometimes things happen and that you may arrive a little later or need to leave a bit earlier than planned. This is fine, but I cannot make up the missed time by overrunning or adding time to subsequent appointments.
