About Thai Massage
Sometimes called assisted yoga or applied Hatha yoga, Thai massage is a UNESCO-recognised manual therapy that enhances the flow of energy throughout the body. In Thai tradition, these energy pathways are known as Sen lines, which are similar to meridians in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Nadis in Ayurveda.
Whether or not you resonate with the energy aspect, Thai massage is incredibly effective at working the body’s mechanics. It offers deep restoration by targeting muscles through a unique blend of stretches, rocking, compressions, chopping, and the therapist’s use of their own body weight.
What to expect
Every session begins with a consultation to review your medical history and tailor the massage to your specific needs. We’ll discuss my consent-led approach and agree on communication methods during the treatment to ensure your comfort and safety as we move through various body positions. Building trust is fundamental in Thai massage.
You will be provided with loose, comfortable clothing designed to facilitate movement during the session.
Thai massage is traditionally performed on a cushioned mat on the floor, but can also be adapted for a massage table if sitting or kneeling on the floor is uncomfortable.
The benefits & who it’s for
Thai massage suits all body types and fitness levels. Using pillows, bolsters, and modified postures, I ensure your comfort throughout the treatment. It’s especially beneficial for improving flexibility, joint mobility, circulation, reducing pain, and relieving stiffness. Athletes and those with active lifestyles often find it particularly helpful, but it’s equally effective for those less physically active.
Please note: Thai massage cannot be performed on pregnant women.
